“Don’t worry…if you are going to get cancer, it’s the one you WANT to have.”
These were the not-so-reassuring words of my oncologist back in 2005. WANT was not how I would put it. Still, what he was saying was that I would beat it-no question. A combination of chemo and immunotherapies, radiation, and being a young 25, would blast the lymphoma away in a few months and I would be just fine. I thought, “Good…I wasn’t planning on letting it kill me anyway.”

From picturesque views of Manhattan’s skyline to bustling streets filled with new restaurants, bars, shops and even the newly constructed Barclay Center co-owned by music mogul Jay-Z, Brooklyn sets new heights as the hotspot hub for transit and native New Yorkers. But what’s most interesting to SALSEEK is that Brooklyn has not only become home for hipsters and celebrities alike, it bursts with the Latin flavor and soul of Salsa dancing! As one of Brooklyn’s top salsa dancers and owner of Tropical Image Dance Studio, Arelis Beato has proven to be one of the movers and shakers of New York’s favorite borough, especially with the installation of her annual Brooklyn Salsa Congress (November 16th-17th).
