Most people return from vacation feeling rejuvenated and refreshed, ready to take on the world. Well, not Rosana Fernandez. She came back from a trip to Dominican Republic feeling embarrassed…because she didn’t know how to dance. She discussed the idea of taking salsa lessons with a co-worker who suggested she try out the classes at BAILA Society. She took the co-worker’s advice and gave Joseph Rivera’s beginner class a shot. Joey didn’t know he hit a homerun when he pulled Rosana out in front of the group to demonstrate a pattern to the students. It's not just the love of the dance that brings men and women together on the salsa scene; sometimes, it's the love of music, too. Ron "Renaissance" Prokopez and his girlfriend, Tina Torres can attest to that. Tina left her home and family in San Francisco to pursue a career in music in The Big Apple. Little did she know that three months after that move, she'd be pursuing a serious relationship as well.
